We have found that using the default profiles in the DivX 6 codec will impose resolution and framerate limitaitons. You can find out the details and requirements of each profile at the following page:
http://support.divx.com/cgi-bin/divx.cfg/p...hp?p_faqid=1709 To avoid these limitations, you could set the codec to use the Unconstrained profile, which will not impose the above limitations and will allow you encode your videos using any resolution or framerate. Please note that as of the current 6.4.0 release of DivX, unfortunately it appears that the free version no longer comes with this profile included (it is still available in the full Pro version of DivX).
Also, if you want your videos to conform to the default profiles, you can perform the following steps below.
To resize the video resolution, open the Filters window from the Video menu in VirtualDub, then click on the Add button and select the Resize option in the list. Enter the desired width and height, then select Bicubic for the filter mode.
To adjust the frame rate, open the Frame Rate window from the Video menu, then select the Convert to FPS option in the Frame Rate Conversion section and enter the required frame rate.
You should now be able to convert your video to the Divx format using profile that you have selected.
