On ne présente plus les navigateurs basés sur Internet Explorer que sont Avant Browser ou Maxthon. GreenBrowser est une autre solution intermédiaire entre IE et les navigateurs alternatifs comme Mozilla Firefox ou Opera 8.
GreenBrowser, comme son nom l'indique, est un navigateur « non polluant », sous entendu ne laissant pas de traces puisqu'il ne nécessite pas d'installation : pour l'utiliser, il suffit d'extraire l'archive dans un dossier de votre disque dur. Comme ses concurrents, GreenBrowser propose une multitude de fonctionnalités : skins, onglets, blocage des publicités, navigation à la souris (« mouse gestures »), traduction automatique des pages ... De quoi perdre l'utilisateur novice mais ravir l'amateur de navigateurs riches en options.
Notre avis : difficile de dire si GreenBrowser est meilleur que les autres «mods» d'Internet Explorer. L'absence d'installation constitue néanmoins un plus. D'autres skins et plug-ins sont disponibles sur le site de l'éditeur.
